About Me ...
Being based in Red Deer, Alberta, makes it ideal for me to make the most of the fantastic scenery and wildlife that surrounds me. I have concentrated on many of the local species, building up detailed portfolios of birds, ducks, deer, and the wonderful Rocky Mountains. I also have good coverage of many other Western Canadian subjects. Western Canada offers a wide range of opportunities for photography - some of the the best wildlife can be found here, as well as some of the most picturesque scenery, particularly in the Rockies. I regularly visit these areas, photographing the great variety of Alberta for my stock library. Recently a trip to Scotland produced a unique chance to photograph some of the larger and rarer mammals in Europe - I was fortunate to get some good shots of Red Deer, and Red Squirrels. Some of the results can be viewed in the gallery. Although I get to travel to foreign lands a great deal, my main love is Canadian wildlife. I sell a good proportion of my work from my own stock material which I constantly increase with new images. As a self taught photographer, I have learned from studying books, magazines, and a wide range of fellow photographers work. What started as a hobby quickly turned into an obsession. For myself, wildlife is one of the most rewarding areas of photography. Being out in the wild with all those elusive creatures, then suddenly something moves before you, and you have to react quickly and quietly. Wonderful, I have the shot, the wildlife has gone, another rewarding trip out in the wild. For the future, my aim is simple. To try and take good original pictures which show the subject in an intimate and personal way, so that whoever looks at that picture can feel in a small sense that they were there as well. My Favorite Quote: “Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.” “ Winston Churchill “ To view some of my photos, please see the gallery pages here on the website, or to request additional information, please contact me. |
